Note: As usual the power-hungry federal government is leading us toward a path of ever-concentrating power - taking more and more control over the states with the ultimate goal that each state will become no more than a small federally run area.
The civil war demonstrated that real states rights - in other words the right to secede from the union wasn't an option - mostly because might makes right and the union had the power. That situation in some respects still exists - in some respects doesn't exist. The federal government is broke and everybody hates them - foreign and domestic - that is - except those who are stuck in an endless cycle living in the war industry.
This time - the "rebels" would not bear the onerous burden they did last time - that is - slavery does not exist. Slavery, which needed to die, was forever a part of the old states-rights south. But the states rights people today have right on their side - and no burden like slavery to give would-be allies reason not to help. For example - Great Britain, while providing some support, like the surreptitious building of the CSS Alabama, could not be relied upon as a great political ally because slavery had already been abhored in Great Britain for some time. Lincoln, grasping this, was able to prevent war support from GB to the Confederacy by "freeing the slaves" making it impolitic for Britain to support the South from that point on. But when one looks at how much he actually "freed the slaves" it was political more than anything. The people who hated slavery in the North and in the South were actually responsible for spearheading that great cause. It took great sacrifice on the part of the people to move that issue forward - the law followed.
Here we are today facing many parallels from the past history of this country - with civil war being one. The label of "terrorist" will continue to be used by the globalists to frame their opponents - the Patriot movement - intent on the preservation of the Bill of Rights, and Constitution of the United States - and hopefully US sovereignty. We shall see - the masses getting most of their information from Corporate and State controlled media are still in a deep trance.
As the money runs out and the Fed/Globalists accelerate their plan to forfeit US sovereignty, our rights and eventually expose us to global taxation, when the bills start showing up in the mailboxes is when the stuff will hit the fan. Perhaps our politicians can be replaced with statesmen before this gloomy futurescape takes a more focused and blatant appearance.
This latest gun legislation - in my opinion - may avert conflict between the states and feds that were lining up for a battle over states gun rights - but I don't think it is going to solve the problem. In fact I think it will eventually get worse as the Feds are addicted to power and the states run out of money and rights to support the fed/globalist's addiction.
But please take a look at the article - G. Edward Griffin is extremely sensible and usually presents solutions. See also the vid on the left side of this blog - The Dangerous Servant.
By the way - I would warn readers to be careful if watching anything Glenn Beck does that has to do with this issue. His propaganda is very clever - and mixes elements of truth like this issue - with dangerous notions undermining our Bill of Rights - like "shoot him in the head." This statement he makes - accurately tells you his view - kill 'em all let God sort them out.
I would remind EVERYONE that trials before punishment are important - required by law - and become super-important to YOU when you are under arrest and someone who hates YOU is in a position to be judge jury and executioner. Practice your critical thinking skills when that con artist is busy putting on his fake-patriot act. Look for contradictions between what he is saying and the true security of America. How about he talks about 911 being an inside job? Tough to do when he was such a strong anti-911-truther running interference for the biggest con ever pulled off on the American public - one still successfully covered up thanks to con-men like him.
By the way - didn't Glenn Beck appear on the scene right after 9-11-01 - I mean within minutes after having been a nobody? Now he has this idiotic 9-12 project. His job is to use everything in his power to keep your mind off the issues that really matter by using some that, although important, are unrelated to the real solutions, but will keep you divided from agreement with your neighbors or even members of your government. It had been anticipated by AJ and others that agent provocateurs would be employed in order to foment violence and then a police backlash to stifle free speech - and - unsurprisingly it happened again.
Interestingly enough - at the local level - here in Charlottesville, Virginia on a local morning AM talk show - they mentioned the riots and left the audience with the impression that the meeting is of no significance since they don't do anything anyway, and that the rioters are over-reacting anarchists, who, when asked by "reporters" what they are doing there can't answer intelligently what it is that they are protesting.
With a bit of internet research, the ability to read, and an open mind a lay-person can rather quickly ascertain that there is a push toward global government and that the Toronto meeting is part of the group forcing global government upon on - contrary to out liberties.
As with many other important issues that face us - the media "serving" the public their latest helping of mushroom food is keeping these topics "internet-only" - and the masses remain ignorant of the overarching agenda.
Anyway I like the article for the critical thought - I enjoy his writing much.

I don't see that very much anymore; the brains appear to have turned to mush, and the hearts to stone. I was hoping the old woman was about to say something of a similar nature, but instead, looking back on the protests, she said, "That was so difficult for the parents!"
Given the circumstances, there was little I could say. I certainly couldn't say what I was thinking: "The parents!? It was difficult for the parents?? How do you think it was for the children???""

Environmental Protection Agency: Fair enough. Definitions are important - so what environment are they protecting - this agency? I'd say an environment of crony-corruption where the "environment" (whatever that is) is protected from the competition. You bet. So it makes sense for the Kings and Queens that run American to have the very best too right? YOU BET.
In a dictatorship - most un-American - in each house lives a corporate slave - or a subject to a King or Queen. There is no need for information - since the government operates in a top-down manner. Of course the best intelligence apparatus - answering directly to the King/Queen is in place - no expense spared, risks taken - all so the best possible information is available to make the life and death decisions upon which the very survival and prosperity of the kingdom balance.
So here in America we Kings and Queens sit - lied to by our servants - actually abused by them. We Kings and Queens - we CITIZENS - you know - those from whom the government derives its just powers -are told by our SERVANTS that by speaking freely we are somehow a threat to them - our servants! We Kings and Queens are being told by OUR SERVANTS that we will be denied our right to bear arms because we cannot be trusted with them - that is - unless OUR SERVANTS need us to go fight another country that hasn't done a damned thing to us.
Are you getting the picture? We Kings and Queens - CITIZENS - established a government of servants to protect our rights and suddenly they are telling us that THEY ARE IN CHARGE OF US! What is wrong with this picture?
My friends - I implore you to think over our situation in America today and ask yourself the who, what, when, where and why's of our current situation and what YOU PERSONALLY intend to contribute to fixing it.
Use the Bill of Rights as your meeting point with everyone you meet - and discard completely the DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT divider illogic. Talk to your friends and family and think - always - ON WHAT DO WE AGREE? I promise you - you can both always agree on the Bill of Rights - USE THAT AS YOUR STARTING POINT. Work out from there. Our REPUBLIC - the United States of America - is defined by a sacred respect for the rights of the INDIVIDUAL - the protection of UNPOPULAR speech, unpopular ideas - radical viewpoints - new ideas - all religions - all faiths - because when you gather up 300 or so million Kings and Queens - you've got a meeting of the minds, and a Constitutional system designed to harness that energy that brings out the best in everybody.
Gandhi said: "Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it." I encourage you to meditate upon that thought - perhaps as an inspiration to do SOMETHING - ANYTHING that is within your grasp, with whatever energy you have - whether as leader or follower - friend - neighbor - whatever. But keeping the Bill of Rights in mind - find some way to agree FIRST with someone you normally don't - and work out from there.
One very important action I encourage people to do is to call in to radio shows. Whether local shows where you can get on the air with no screening - or if you have more patience the national ones. Whatever your approach - use your intuition as a guide - and find a topic that you can speak about in some capacity that you feel passionately about. Challenge the host. For example I called the Schilling show here in Charlottesville, Virginia to tell Mr. Schilling that I thought he was out of line for supporting a border patrol agent for shooting a teenage illegal in the face (killing him) because the teenager had thrown a rock at the border patrol agent. You may be surprised, just like when you raise your hand in class, that when you think something, then say it out loud - that there are many many many people who are listening who cheer when you call in and speak for them.
Each one of us can be a leader, follower, helper, assistant, organizer, negotiator - whatever suits. Now is the time. We are winning - but like a forest fire - there is no letting up just because the fire is under control. The solution is to stomp the fire out completely. The fascist fire must be drenched until so wet it drips.

I'm amazed that this problem is being allowed to escalate to this level. There must be somebody waiting in the wings to profit from the violence as it ramps up. What we are watching is do-nothings in the Federal Government sit by while the probem grows - thereby allowing enough time to go by for some atrocities to result - thereby fomenting racial and other hatred on both sides - that's the best way to get people fighting each other who would normally get along. Once that hatred gets started the gun dealers and everybody else will rake in huge profits as the people suffering the casualties become involved in a tit-for-tat battle.
But rest assured - we have troops in AfPakistan, Columbia, Iraq - an Israeli-led United States Navy fleet heading for trouble in the Middle East - and over one hundred other U.S. troop occupations across the globe.
