"I'm looking for a Christian"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diogenes_of_Sinope

There is a story about Diogenes the Cynic being asked why he was carrying a lantern in broad daylight - his answer:  "I'm looking for a human being."  If Diogenes were here today I wonder if he might say "I'm looking for a true Christian."

I am not an expert in religion by any stretch - and I should be clear that I don't want to be.  I've read about Christ - directly without interpretation.  I did a lot of daydreaming during my church years and wasn't listening to whatever it was the nuns and priests were babbling.   This was part of my upbringing as part of the culture I was raised in.  Sunday school and church, I guess, were there to help instill morals and proper values.  I wonder what the hell happened?

If the church was doing its job all these years what has happened to all its disciples?  It kinda makes one wonder.  I, like Diogenes, am looking for a Christian.  One of my friends mentioned a quote from Ghandi:  "I like your Christ, but not your Christians."

I am surrounded by so-called Christians all the time since I live South in the Bible Belt.  I didn't grow up here and although having spent much of my life south of the Mason-Dixon line wasn't aware of the deep belief system here in southern Dixie.  It is surprising how closed-minded Christians are - and contradictory to boot.  Thank God I grew up in an area and around people more open-minded than those whose minds are held captive by the various churches here in the South.  Is keeping the flock hypnotized in fear a Christian value?

I don't mean to be mean or to pick a fight with Christians - after all I don't want to be murdered or burned at the stake or drowned like a witch - I only want to make clear some of the contradictions I see and cannot understand.

How is it possible to be a follower of Christ yet in the same breath make claims that it is OK to murder people who claim to believe differently in some other God?

Tithing?  What ever happened to the bake sale?

When I think of "tithing" (giving money to the church for nothing) I think of opening my own church.  What a profitable enterprise.  Think about it - like the Obama campaign - it is easy to sell hope because you never have to pay up.  You can take money and give hope all day long at 100 % profits.  You never have to worry about an audit because the auditor will be bound to the same belief system as the rest of the flock.  What a racket.

I've often wondered what the church has done with all this money they collect for nothing?  Every day Christians remind me that unless I make some stupid-ass public declaration in front of other people of my belief in their system I will go to hell.  If that is true - why couldn't they - if they really cared about me - use some of that money to pay God to keep me out of that furnace?  Maybe simply asking these questions will doom me to a furnace here on Earth - with a chance to be burned by Christians?

I hear much about so-called "moral relativism" from Christians - who are the biggest violators of this supposedly terrible sin.  Rather than abiding by their own "laws" like "thou shalt not kill" and "thou shalt not take other peoples mineral rights" Christians are led by holy men to do just that.  Christian kids are raised to hate the offspring of human beings who had the misfortune to grow up in an equally rotten parallel universe - where other holy men sell another faith to their kids teaching them to hate Christians.  Neither side will "turn the other cheek" because that would mean peace - something none of them really want.

Americans - and Christians -and Jews and Muslims too -  seem to love war.  America has been at war essentially forever.  It never ends.  This nation floats on an ocean of hypocrisy and debt.  Nothing is really as it appears - but there is some progress.  In today's America we've finally stopped some hypocrisy - like pretending that we care about peace and that this war will ever end.  Like the NAZIs before us from which we've taken our game-plan, we openly in broad daylight talk about killing forever.  It is manly these days to worship weapons of war - with everyone in the group always agreeing how neat this tank or jet or machine gun is.  There are endless newsreels from past wars and conflicts - mostly showing these weapons firing or their operators firing them.  There are not anywhere near as many films of the victims getting hit with the bullets.  They will show you a coupla' dead bodies here or there when it suits the agenda of those pumping out the propaganda - but for the most part our military machine is openly glorified.  Is militarism a Christian value?  Where did Christ discuss hosing people down with machine gun bullets?

Americans now believe, thanks to her dear leaders, that there is no other way to live than in a war economy.  We don't make much worth a hoot in this country although good people are trying to fix that.  Even the plastic bags everybody uses to bring their plastic stuff home from Big-Mart are cheapening to where the bags are falling apart before the customer has a chance to get to the car.  I should know as I've been re-purposing these bags as small trash bags for the last few years as I hate buying garbage bags.  Our greedy business leaders will always think of a way to shave a few dollars more to stuff into their bank account.  Who cares if the customer drops the junk on the way to the car?  Then they can come back in and buy more!

Are these Christian values - selling inferior or designed-to-fail products to the masses?  Or are there no Christians working in high-level positions in our corporations ?  Somehow I don't think it matters - Christians for the most part are Christians in name only.  Who cares about the examples Christ set?  Christ didn't work for a corporation and didn't use shopping bags.  What does selling a decent product and providing good service have to do with Christianity?

We've pissed so much money away on these wars it is surprising to me that the public doesn't notice.  I've met a few people who work very long hours six days a week who had their tax refund confiscated at the last minute for this reason or that.  It's "funny" - here are some folks who've been looking forward to that few thousand bucks to replace the worn-out jalopy they depend on in this freezing icy weather to keep the money coming in to the family - a car that just barely gets them to work - and the government grabbed the loot.  Rest assured taxpayer - the money has been well spent on munitions to murder non-believers somewhere else in the world who's leaders are selling them the same hate wrapped in different packaging.  Is hating Muslims a Christian value?  Is teaching kids to hate a Christian value?  Is scaring people a Christian value?  Is spreading terror and fear a Christian value?

There was a time when U.S. leaders got back to their herd from time to time to remind them why we are all chipping in to win the war.  This hypocrisy has also, thankfully, ended.  No longer pretending that there is any intention to ever end the "long war" we started by bombing ourselves on September 11, 2001, our propaganda machine simply fans the flames of fear and hatred.  There is always someone with a turban hiding in a cave somewhere up to no good.  Americans everywhere can be found publicly pissing their pants around the coffee machine and water cooler.  They talk in circles as each speculates about this or that non-issue fed to them by the corporate death-machine.  Forget ending the bloodshed - there is simply too much money to be had.  No - not for you or me - for the media, the manufacturers and the politicians.  Possibly the churches too huh?  I wonder if any of those robed ones are on the take - after all it is their flocks that are participating in these bloodbaths.

I saw a news article the other day - probably put out by some Republican propaganda outlet to bash  Obama for a bit.  Their complaint?  That Obama doesn't see an Islamic terror threat.  They proceeded to belittle him with the standard political propaganda expected from those wishing to plant a Bush back in the White house.  News flash:  I don't see an Islamic terror threat either - in fact all of the Muslims I've met so far have been pretty decent - since I met them here in the states and they were abiding by our laws.  None of them shot me or attempted to bomb my house - I think they were busy running their business or getting the kids to school.  With all the government peeping toms and perverts spying on all the Muslims in this country you would think they could have turned up more evidence over the last fourteen years other than zero.  The only "plots" discovered were patsies set up by our own agencies.

The terror threat is a maniacal plan to keep religous people everywhere shooting each other.  Religious people do what their leaders tell them.  The proof is easy to see - just watch them all throw money at their churches.  You would think these rich churches could spare a minute or two to remind their flock that torture is a sick, twisted and perverted crime against humanity.  But they won't because being the hypocrites they are - they revert back to their own type of moral relativism - rather than sticking with the fake absolute morals they pretend.  I'm sure they will knock off the hypocrisy eventually like the government of the US did - and openly admit they love a good Crusade.

The government and the churches are playing the same game - spreading fear and hate and superstition with no facts to present whatsoever.  This is a profitable enterprise as it exists without costs and brings the highest profits and mind-controlled robots to do ones bidding.

I'm still looking for a Christian.

Getting Religion

wiki byzantine

I don't understand religion.

Sometimes when I think about the effects religion has upon people I become frightened.

I see people transformed, as they describe their particular God's intentions for makind,  into those automatons that I've read participated in the French revolution.  Friends and neighbors, baker turned guillotine-operator, eyes mad with blood lust.

Perhaps I am seeing something that really is not there?  I think not.

Beliefs hold strong power over us all.  Cracking through our belief system seems impossible on both sides - whether trying to convince someone, or when confronted with evidence  that we have been so so wrong about something we'd thought we really knew.

Religious beliefs held by many confuse me.  How can a person claim to live by a law given to them by their own God:  "Thou shalt not kill" and then  add "but....it's ok under these circumstances" to the end of God's sentence?

How can a person not see that there may be things that they cannot know - like other people's Gods?  When people tell me things on God's behalf I wonder why God wouldn't just tell me himself - right?  How can people expect me to believe in their God if their God is telling them to kill people?  My God tells me NOT to kill people - it's one of his ten commandments.  Doesn't that make my God better?

We can go on forever about these belief issues - which is why we are doing everyone a service by adhering to a legal system of agreed-upon laws which we all agree to live by.  Finding a way to keep individual religions out of it is almost impossible since it seems that our laws have religious foundations somewhere along the timeline of the past.

How can a person tell me God told them something I need to know - but they can't get God to say the same thing to me out loud so I can hear it too.  Usually the next thing they tell me is I have to pony up some cash so they can do more good.  Why does their God need my money?  Yes a bit of sarcasm.

I do not wish to poke fun at religious beliefs because I have too much respect for my religious friends and also know that maybe they know something I don't know - maybe they do have a special insight in these religious matters that I do not have.  In the meantime - while we philosophize over that - we have to get on with living our lives as I have been told.

That means mutual respect - then we get into definitions of "good" religions and "bad" religions.  These are also fascinating discussions which can lead to historical "proof" of said religious beliefs backing up this or that God under discussion.  Henry Ford said that "history is bunk" which makes me wonder if that statement applies to historical proof of religious beliefs.

Yesterday I took a look at a few websites discussing acupuncture.  One site was Wikipedia and then some independent ones which gave a much more balanced and respectful viewpoint of this part of Chinese medicine.  Acupuncture may be sneered at in Western culture because it is not based on science - but does that necessarily mean that it won't work?  I thought the Hippocratic Oath was at the basis of medical morality "First do no harm" - perhaps that means acupuncture should be tried if there is a possibility that it "works" to treat maladies and causes no harm.  Perhaps acupuncture really works and is a powerful tool that we simply cannot explain using science as the medium of explanation - I don't know.  Are there parallels with religion I wonder?

In the world of peace I envision people do not have wars over religion.  But is there a possibility that this is an impossible dream if religion is at the base of our common morals.  If we no longer rely on laws - like the Constitution and Bill of Rights which seem written in an effort to minimize our tendency to fall back on religious-based decision making - then the most popular religions will be at odds with each other on certain major issues.  Religions seem to justify violent action when certain sins are committed - and voila - we have mortal combat and war.  I know the Pope has recently come out and said that "killing in the name of God is blasphemy"- but I also know that Christians in general have not heard that word because that is not what they tell me they believe.

A respect for ALL human life, at a minimum, must be our common value:  Whether a value of religion A or religion B does not matter.  What matters is finding those commonalities upon which we can all agree - then work out from there.

The alternative is to continue the tendency - whether fomented by media masters or not, toward a religious war - a war that may have to burn itself out.  A war that once started will escape the control of its masters (slaves?) leading to nothing but waste.  What are your religious leaders doing to prevent this?  Are they reminding their flocks of their duty to uphold what used to be American values like "Thou shalt not torture people,"  "Thou shalt not lie countries into wars,"  etc...??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillotine#mediaviewer/File:Exécution_de_Marie_Antoinette_le_16_octobre_1793.jpg

Where were all these pious religious leaders, call them saints if you wish, on television when it was time to speak out against torture, trampling of rights, spreading of fear and terror for cash prizes - where were the churches etc...???  They may have forgotten their duty to remind their parishioners
of their moral duties and to hold their public servants accountable for high crimes - but I'll bet they never forgot to pass around the collection basket!

Perhaps the fight we are really involved in here in the "States and by extension, the rest of the world, is a battle for our common values.  Common values at a very local level extending up to common values at a national level - then international.  Laws binding all parties are enacted every day - do these laws represent our values?  It seems more often than not we find ourselves confronted with laws that do not serve the common good.  Sometimes what is considered "common" changes - like the mix of religious belief systems - then the trouble begins it seems.  Doesn't it make sense to always remember that religious systems are indeed belief-based - but can only serve as the foundations for why we enact certain laws - but should never be the legal system themselves?

Or are we forever trapped within the limits of our abilities as human beings to grasp what common set of values can bring us together to create the best world possible for all of us?

U.S. Corporate Media: Irrelevant and Orwellivant

The moth returns to the candle flame.

brian williams - still orwellivant

The public mind is shifting as some sort of awakening seems to be in progress.  Really.

The conversations I'm having with folks tell me that the public is indeed beginning to wake up.  People of all stripes are having rather civilized discussions, sometimes heated, then ending somewhere in the middle.

These discussions I've been present for and some that I've participated in are encouraging to say the least.  The topics are sometimes political addressing some of what I consider to be the more important issues facing this nation today.  Like what?

One world government or the "New World Order" comes up a lot as the citizens of these United States are having discussions about topics that a short time  ago were completely taboo.  Consumers are transforming into citizens, sometimes right before my eyes as they are exposed to new ideas or ideas that they had heard rumors about but didn't know whether or not these ideas had any merit.

It is now possible to discuss the questions surrounding the events of September 11, 2001 where unanswered questions haunt the liars that fed the official story to the animals living in this modern version of Orwell's "Animal Farm."  If one is well-informed it has become possible to have an adult conversation about the 911 attacks without the "debunkers" or whatever they are attacking reflexively.      Now people act differently where they will listen to arguments/questions and mentally digest them - perhaps not ready to "believe" the monstrosity of the lies that face us - but leave when the conversation is over with their own questions.  It is surprising which events or questions or anomalies  contradicting the official pack of lies will awaken various people.  Many of these discussions remind me how many questions I never thought to ask myself about this pivotal event that our nation just won't let go.  The cover-up was and is still, excellent, as the public ignorance regarding WTC7 proves.  Although we don't have a government capable of addressing this crime of the century perhaps the new awareness will contribute to further progress when the next false-flag attack occurs.

Although the media would like us to accept that 911 is a done deal and the perps got away with the crime we find over and over again that this topic will just not die.  And it can't because it is THE event upon which just about every change we are experiencing now is based.  All of the feather-fluffing at the airports, the checkpoints on the highway, the severe and ridiculous militarization of our police forces which some call a standing army (I agree) - all of these negatives that undermine the American way of liberty come into question.

Recently there has been a media feeding frenzy surrounding a story that Brian Williams lied about being in a helicopter under fire during one of the military adventures our military industrial complex relies on so heavily for their blood profits.  I've not believed anything out of Brian Williams' mouth since I wised up to 911 which led to my personal research journey into other scams inflicted on the public.  Brian Williams never reported on any of the real issues facing the nation so when I heard he finally got caught in a lie it didn't surprise me.  I've always felt he's been guilty along with the rest of the blabbermouths on teevee of lying at least by omission.  Whether or not Brian lied about something is also in question as it is being reported by the same media that lied via omission along with him to the public and consumed our airwaves with drivel while real questions about real crimes went unasked on the teeVee set.  Here is a bit from an article where a pilot at the center of the controversy contradicts our favorite feel-good teevee personality's story :

"After landing, we learned that the parked aircraft had received small-arms fire and had been hit with an RPG on their mission.
Brian Williams and crew recorded footage of this parked aircraft. The “Big Windy” aircraft was not part of our unit. It was not part of our flight. We were not flying “behind” them. Our missions were completely separate.
Brian Williams began to tell the story, from 2003, that the lead aircraft in our flight had received this ground fire.
This was not true."
OK - so what?  Brian Williams has done nothing to deliver good relevant information to the public anyway - just the babble his bosses told him to report minus any real issues that I'm sure he isn't dumb enough to discount.
This media has been at the epicenter of America's decline.  Not to give American journalists all the credit for venality there is an interesting article featuring the editor of a German newspaper admitting that he planted stories in his newspaper for the CIA.  His book cover not yet translated into English...

Bought Journalists

Is this such a big surprise?  People will tell you  that they already know that these things are going on but do they really grasp the seriousness and extent of it?  I don't think so.  Here is a snippet from the article:

"Ulfkotte says that remorse of having “lied” to mass audiences over the years drove him to come forward. He told RI that he was:
“taught to lie, to betray and not to tell the truth to the public.”
Ulfkotte says:
“I’m ashamed I was part of it. Unfortunately I cannot reverse this.”
Among the admissions that Ulfkotte makes in the interview are putting his own name to articles completely written by intelligence agencies. He said:
“I ended up publishing articles under my own name written by agents of the CIA and other intelligence services, especially the German secret service.”
Ulfkotte detailed the pattern of cajolery and outright bribery used by the CIA and other US-allied intelligence agencies, for the purpose of advancing political agendas. "

The media situation is still abysmal in this nation.  I repeatedly hear folks telling me that they are disappointed about some small fact misreported by their favorite news organization and I have to restrain myself from jumping in to give them ten more examples about higher crimes.

Why is the media so important?  Why is the media too important to remain in the control of a few greedy hands?  Consider what  Jefferson said so eloquently :

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. "

If the media feeds lies to the public we end up with a "garbage in garbage out" situation where the public endlessly runs around in circles arguing with each other about non-issues while the real issues that are at the heart of our common challenges remain  undebated.  I can't stop noticing how foolish the FBI and other Groupmind-alphabet-agencies of dubious character make public claims about this danger or that - while they NEVER do anything about 911.  That's what I call ZERO credibility.  And what kind of grown-ups get on TV and scare the kids about these boogeyman terrorists all the time?  Shouldn't good parents show their kids "not to be afraid of the dark" and "the bigger they are the harder they fall" etc...?  I guess not anymore.  These people go to work and ignore the bigger picture - many claiming there is nothing they can do.  My answer:  "BS.  Quit."  Pretty simple.  Find something else to do.  Why are you working there?  And why did Dan Rather report that the FBI provided the stuff to blow up the World Trade Center the first time?  You see - these are the kinds of questions absent in the mainstream media.  That's why guys like Brian Williams just don't matter - unless you need to know a good hairdresser - 'cause Brian Williams always has a kickass haircut.

These media people have a look that says:  "Hi - I report "news" "reports" on stuff that is, for the most part, untrue" written all over them.   They talk the same, dress the same, look the same.  I remember years ago when I would still look at the teevee news that there was some newscaster that was on a lot on one of the "big" mainstream stations and when the guy quit or was fired he was replaced with someone who looked exactly like him.  I remember doing a "double-take" looking at the television screen when the news was on a teevee I was walking past that had the news on.  The similarity the new puppet-mouth had to the old puppet-mouth was astonishing.  They were like these Star Trek re-dos where they have an actor that looks so much like the Shatner-Kirk that you have to look twice.  I guess that's about right because both are so obviously fake.

Counting Votes in America
Furthermore a media that doesn't report the facts is almost as dangerous as the one we have now.  A pre-packaged planned media that not only fails to report relevant information to the electorate but has now become a staged panic-management system feeding the mushroom masses a fetid stew -poisoning their minds to keep them in the dark about laws, crimes or misdeeds that serve the oligarchs and screw over We the People.

But the media is not the only challenge that faces us.  We are also faced with a broken vote-counting system that fails to provide a paper receipt or other mechanism that makes the vote transparent.

Every person I've asked that uses a cash machine has responded "No" when I've asked them if they've ever received a single dollar that didn't belong to them from a bank automatic teller machine.  Don't forget that the automatic teller machine has an additional task a voting machine doesn't need to do - it must accurately dispense exactly the right amount of currency to the customer in addition to providing a receipt and maintaining security and accountability.

Immigrants

I say "let them in."  Why?  Because those folks down South have tried to start their own peaceful governments and rumor has it, since I cannot depend on any mainstream media outlets, strictly internet - it seems that our government has been busy overthrowing the leaders selected or elected by people in other countries.  When those people flee those countries to come to the United States I say "welcome."  They clean the place I live in.  They cleaned other places I've lived and never stole anything.  That's a better record than many businesspeople I've dealt with.  Maybe things will change for the better.  At least when they see something wrong they do something about it even if it means leaving their country to come here.  Isn't it fair to allow a person to leave their country to come here and live if we're the ones that destroyed the place they grew up in?  Poetic justice?

False Flag coming?

The is the Modus Operandi of those pushing our buttons here in the 'States and it seems, in many places in the world.  Something gets "attacked" then the government that can't mail a letter suddenly becomes hyper-efficient and immediately pulls out some pre-written legislation which is signed into law before anybody has any kind of adult debate about the new laws in public.  I submit that this practice of policymaking that is contrary to the well-being of the citizenry - especially when based on lies based on false-flag attacks - is a recipe for disaster.

America is no more when the Bill of Rights and Constitution are routinely ignored.  Is that a bad thing?  You should judge for yourself but if you have taken an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic your first duty is to inform yourself.  You must start with a study of Groupthink and other know hazards related to working in a group environment.  You must determine to the best of your ability whether or not you are contributing to a country "Of the people, by the people, and for the people."  That is what the government was created for - or perhaps that was only what was told to the citizens - not sure - maybe that was a lie too - but at some point the other party that has a contract with America called the Constitution+Bill of Rights has to keep their end of the bargain - and that means ALL OF US.

It is difficult, sometimes, when it is time to pay up on a bet.  We all place bets on different things - sometimes we win and sometimes we "lose."  (I don't believe we ever lose unless we, ourselves, look at a situation that way but anyway...)  Sometimes the sacrifice we must make personally is different from the sacrifice we thought we were signing up for.  This is true - but there is a happier life in doing the right thing and suffering the so-called loss that may come in return.

Some challenges I can cite from the discussions I've had and some of this writing is that I never understood how hard it would be to try to get somebody just to look at something - and how difficult it is to take on three people in a discussion where you yourself are called a "conspiracy theorist" by people who can normally think logically and rationally on just about every other topic.  You too may have felt this if you are a "truther " of sorts as is one of the propaganda labels people may have pinned on you.  But as time goes on and the truth comes out - perhaps you may feel satisfaction in being free from fantasyland.

Will there be a false flag coming?  There almost has to be - and it almost has to have elements of the military and police and government, and news media involved working together.  That's the way things are being run now.  The fact that there are American citizens involved is the sad part.

I could never understand how an American could be involved in bombing their own nation.  Then aiding in the cover-up of the crime - then lying to the citizens - including new generations of children that will live a life based upon the most vile lies.  Perhaps my unwillingness at first to accept that there are people that will do such things - and still are people to commit these acts - and that they are at the ready was what took so long for me to finally admit to myself that things as presented to me on the teevee were outright lies.  I understand now.  I no longer maintain such fantasies that our government and media are run by anything other than greedy war-mongers and war-profiteers - people who don't believe the rest of us need to have facts and unrigged elections.

America will be saved if the media does its job.  That means the internet must remain unfettered by censorship so everyone can have an outlet.  Censorship is immature and unbecoming of a nation of free people.  Give me all the facts and I'll make up my own mind thank you.

Maybe Brian Williams should have just done his job  and taken the heat from the beginning.  He would have been fired long ago if he had reported relevant facts and spoken truth to power.  But he didn't - he did what many members of his audience are doing - doing what is wrong instead of what is right - clinging to a guilty present instead of facing the music now and just saying "no" I won't lie to the public and I won't aid any effort to lie to the public.  But we all know a good steady job is worth its weight in gold right?  Maybe more?  I hope whatever it was that kept Brian Williams in line all these years was worth it to him.

There are no easy answers but we are talking.   That means we can still rely on each other even if we can't rely on Brian Williams.
