A Cynical look at the RNC on C-SPAN: Fascist Flag-Waving

I'm watching the RNC on C-SPAN - turned it on at about 8:15 PM Eastern, just in time for Norm Coleman to finish some irrelevant ramblings - now the giant screen on the stage comes alive with super-huge and super-bright RED and WHITE stripes of an American flag waving - slowly and hypnotically - gigantic huge gargantuan American flag. More flags waving, kids holding flags, flags stuck in peoples hair, more flag worship. This reminds me very much of a Nazi rally - flags, flags and more flags and a head-on video of a military attack helicopter (American) making a low pass over the observer - large-caliber tank-busting nose cannon showing our proud American might. Soldiers saluting - it all warms the heart - and makes it skip a beat or two if you were hoping for a more peaceful message. The cameras pan to the audience to make sure the voter sees that there are black Republicans in the audience. From a distance I don't see many blacks at all but there are multiple close-ups of individuals while a black preacher gives a speech giving the illusion of a more mixed audience. I'm sorry for my cynicism but let's be honest here - this is a show to mezmerize the masses of true believers. The Republican Neo-Cons running this clambake are propaganda experts. They are also militaristic corporatists - which is why I so harshly criticize. Now another guy giving a speech with a black girl behind him. This leaves quite a different impression than that from video I saw on TV during the Hurricane Katrina debacle where one black person I saw on live TV was dead in a wheelchair outside. Just sitting there dead. Others stood on rooftops waving to rescuers that in many cases didn't show up for awhile. Others wading through filthy water - or "stealing" bottled water or food to survive. Now my RNC-provided moving picture shows black people assimilated into the Republican political machine - waving Old Glory and cheering on the neo-cons. Somehow I'm not buying it.


It is 8:45 approximately now - more flag-waving and brave American pride stuff that brings tears to sheep's eyes - images of Teddy Roosevelt with the gigantic grin - the voice-over continues "blah blah blah ... A leader during war..." blah blah - more pictures of brave American cowboy-looking guys with hats and guns... "...led the charge up San Juan Hill..." This theatrical production is getting to be a bit much. I can't take much more of it - it's all so fake.


It's 8:52 PM now Eastern - Suddenly the convention has become a concert/church picnic in front of a mammoth drive-in theater-size screen. We're treated to a young female singer with a great voice pealing - very middle-America looking - a guy with a hat and guitar slouches next to her playing accompaniment - she's singing her heart out while an immense - I mean bigger than any American flag ever, blood-red and white stripes waves majestically - almost slow-motion behind from the Brobdingnagian screen. Somehow this doesn't belong on C-Span - I thought we watched political issues on this channel. I've still seen nothing of substance.


8:58 approx. - The song is over - now a new one comes on through the PA system - AC/DC - while the crowd rocks out to this hard rock which seems completely out of place, a camera pans out from a close-up shot of another black person, revealing as it pans out to show the whole audience we realize this one black man is surrounded by an ocean of white faces - now McCain's wife is on camera. I guess the Republican party really knows the black vote is going to be very, very important in this election.


9:20 PM Eastern approx. - Tme to feed the audience more war imagery - The drive-in theater screen is going again - video of American warships in Pearl Harbor - burning - thick smoke - then...George Bush war story about the Pacific complete with pictures of him in front of his torpedo bomber - no not George W. Bush silly - George H.W. Bush since the kid wasn't in a war. The crowd goes wild. Now pictures of our other fearless hero John McCain dressed up in fighter pilot stuff in front of a jet fighter - see - look everybody - we have war heroes to run the country. But hang on a second - why aren't we talking about Dubya'? Hasn't that dunce been the prez for the last 8 miserable fascist years? Oh brother this propaganda show is tough to stick with. The audience is waving "Country First" signs and "Service" signs - interpretation of the meaning of these slogans is left to the reader.


It's 9:41 PM Eastern - now five medal of honor winners stand to huge applause and a chant - U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! Again this reminds me of a rally from the '30s with lots of chants and flags.
The marine continues introducing more patriots while another colossus of an American flag on the towering screen behind him waves. Now President George Herbert Walker Bush our hero is asked to stand - more war whoops from the audience.


It is 9:45 now, the first lady Laura Bush comes on to thundrous applause. I wonder what Laura has done to deserve the applause - but why not? Might as well clap folks - what else are you gonna' do? She nods her head with sincerity as she acknowledges everybody in the world and her family. She says "blah blah real American hero John McCain and running mate...blah first female vice president Republican woman...cheers...hollors..."women blah blah thank you to women in our dedicated audience blah blah and have you heard a good cookie recipe recently (I made that up) and Elaine Chow and Condi Rice (warmonger.) She is saying something about her husband saving Africans from AIDS - man I will have to look that up - I suspect she is full of sh#!. Blah blah mosquito nets prevent malaria - and 50 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq are living in freedom. Geez what about all the civilians killed, the depleted uranium, our mercenary army running amok and the wiped-off-the-map infrastructure from the countries we've "liberated." More pandering to the military and shots of veterans in the audience. Hey Laura - I've got an idea if you love the military - send your twin daughters you hypocrite!


9:53 - Suddenly Laura's silly husband appears like Big Brother on the gargantuan screen behind her on the stage muttering something about how he's busy responding to a hurricane. How can this guy say this with a straight face after his administrations heckuva-job-Brownie job doing zero about Katrina? I have to turn this off for a few minutes so as not to have my intelligence sucked out of me into the computer screen into the black hole in the president's head. Dubya says something about John McCain being the greatest human that ever lived ever in the entire universe. Now Bush tells his mom and dad in the audience he loves them a lot! Cool! Blah blah front lines ...buildings knocked down by killers...blah John McCain blah blah lead this nation. This is too much to bear. Blah ...enemy prison camp McCain blah etc... beatings in isolation. No Bush is not talking about the torture he approved, he's talking about John McCain being tortured in the Hanoi Hilton. The audience goes wild. More imagery... "West Texas mountain...blah optimistic...blah." Are the Bushes really from Texas I wonder? "Laura has been a great first lady...God bless America." My question: How has she distinguished herself as great at anything?


10:02 PM Eastern - Laura introduces McCain's wife Cindy. Another incredible great unbelievably super-amazing miracle worker Laura Bush tells us. She doesn't tell us how rich McCain's wife is or about how much money she's made selling beer. The monstrous movie screen behind the stage comes to life again and the down-home music comes on again - the titanic image is of God - I mean Ronald Reagan - "who never forgot who he was" the audio says. Well I've heard he might have forgotten a lot of other important stuff because there were rumors of him sleeping in important meetings in the White House while Nancy was at the fortune teller. A good book on this is called "Inside the White House." I mention that book because the author picks on the Clintons too. The American apple-pie video continues with violins and voice over about bringing an end to the "Evil Empire" (applause). Hmm all that work to bring down an evil empire just so it can all get fired up again in 2008.


10:09 - Enter the Fossil-Impressionist Fred Thompson: Senator, actor. His deep reassuring voice is welcomed by a cheering crowd. His voice booms out from the stage - powerful - projected - inspiring - resonating - patriotically saying absolutely nothing. The crowd eats it up. He claims we live in the free-est country in the world... blah blah Washington pundits blah Sunday talk shows blah cocktail circuit. What is this actor talking about? Is he acting now I wonder? What about Habeus Corpus? What about torture? We are free he says. Fred Thompson continues "Teddy Roosevelt...blah...drain that swamp in Washington blah." I'm sorry but the Republicans have had eight years to drain the swamp - and we ended up with Blackwater! Fred tells us that John McCain has the distinction of having earned many demerits at the Naval Academy - he's a rebel that's what makes him great! Ha! I suppose if you can't fix it feature it! Am I to believe they are telling me McCain is great because he's a screw-up? More military war talk. Volunteer, combat, stepping-up, country first - well you know the drill by now. Don't worry about the economy, the illegal war in Iraq based on lies and Osama bin Laden either on the loose or non-existent. Let's talk about the Viet Nam war instead of the war raging right now. Fred Thompson continues with a gut-wrenching story - gruesome details of John McCain's torture - imagine that - the enemy tortures people - he gets choked up describing it. (Or is he acting? The choke-up seemed so well timed) He keeps pouring it on with a humorous punch line on how John McCain beat the torturers in the end by giving them phony info. Hey I don't take any torture lightly - which is why I'd like to know why we Americans are water-boarding people. I've had enough of this snake-oil salesman. I'm turning it off now. OK - just a little while longer.


10:40 I missed the first part of this segment. It is just as well because it's time for Joseph Lieberman - a turncoat who'll accept any invitation to the White House - from any side. Who does this snivel-puss represent? Not I. He snivels " We are all Americans... not Democrats or Republicans... threats from enemies abroad" BS to explain why he is nothing but a turncoat. He'll turn his back on anyone to fight more wars for Israel or raw materials. He has a quote from President Washington - but not the one about avoiding foreign entanglements - somehow the Senator from Israel doesn't remember that one. He snivels on about how he supports John McCain because country matters more than party. I'll say - Israel's needs are more important to this Senator than either the Dems or Republicans. The loud U-S-A chants burst out - Joe interrupts them with more of his sniveling fakery. He lowers his snivel-volume for a minute to sound like he has the voice of a great orator. "Partisan blinders - Americans don't care about having an R or D after your name...put our country first he says" He doesn't tell us which country he is talking about. One should judge this turncoat by his actions. The uninspiring speech continues and the Republicans who couldn't stand this weakling that ran with Al Gore on the Democrat ticket just a short time ago cheer him on with the greatest enthusiasm. The war whoops and hollers continue for the Democrat-turned-"Independent"-speaking at the RNC. Nobody seems to remember Joe Lieberman ran with Al Gore. He keeps saying he's a democrat. This is so, so, so bizarre. He calls Obama a young man who can do good things in the future implying Obama is too young to be prez. So he stabbed Obama's back - what else would one expect from this fraud? The turncoat continues his slamming of Obama and weaves in Clinton to the cheers of the Republican audience. Now he has praise for the Vice Presidential Republican candidate McCain picked. Wow he really likes Republicans all of the sudden. And the audience swallows the bait. I can't watch anymore - has the public no memory? He goes on "National unity not party unity is important, nation at war etc... Another slam on Obama where Senator snagglepuss claims Obama tried to "... cut off funds for troops on the battlefield." The audience gobbles the red meat with a howl of hatred - Wow who else to count on to deliver such a deep vicious stab to a back than this traitor? Well delivered Joe. A self-serving statement to deflect his turncoat behaviour - while plunging a knife into a former colleagues back. He continues with the line from every presidential election "These are not ordinary times..." Yeah Joe, keep'm scared - so we can continue this endless war. A rabbi comes on next but for some reason I didn't catch any Arab man of faith for some balance. The convention is adjourned.


How did we go from Gore/Lieberman to McCain running with Lieberman speaking at the Republican convention to support a war-monger like McCain? Totally strange and fake unless you think about Joe's affinity for war in the Middle East. Consider this article (CLICK) where we read about how great Lieberman will be on the Gore ticket - what a bizarre turn of events. Well maybe not so bizarre for a traitor like Lieberman.

Great news!

No there really is great news:  Birds.

Sparrow I know - name is Hatcher.  

It all started the day after the storm - no - not that long ago - maybe 7 days?  I can't remember - been really busy you know....

I walked into the kitchen - we have a view of the side where you can see a way-high-up-off-the-ground perch - atop the curved downspout of the drainpipe to the gutter under the eve on the corner of the house.

I have an old Celestron Mak-Cass 90  - the birds must have hatched today - first time I ever saw "Hatcher" move - all I ever saw for a week+ was:

1.  Nest appears - glued with mud to leaves to the "spiral" twig nest .....to the top of an aluminum gutter downspout.

2.  Nest is positioned so that the spotlights for the yard, when on, don't bother Hatcher, but illuminate the entire area, which is a grassy hill, lots of water, bugs, worms etc...

3.  Hatcher sat on those eggs - low profile - pecked around in the nest occasionally - either pointing toward the house or away - never saw Hatcher fly, walk - just appears, disappears.

4.  Today - walked into the house at 1740 or so hours - never walked over to the spotting scope to look (first thing I do when I walk into the house since the nest has been built) - didn't have time - as I was emptying all the corporate-Amerika shit out of my pockets - I could see Hatcher fly from the woods to the nest and stand there looking and working up-down into the nest.

5.  Looked into the scope - Heaven.  There it was - what our home has to offer.

6.  Usually I'm a hermit and have work to do - but I couldn't help myself - I just had to call my neighbor - can't mention names - but if I didn't get somebody that loves nature over here - I went over and got

7.  We watched the mother feed the chicks.  Sparrow.  I waited so long for that picture.

Onto less important things:

1.  The presidential election doesn't exist except in fantasy-land (Teevee and corporate-owned screedia)

2.  The new angle on why you have to vote for dumb or dumber is because "we can't ever agree with anyone on every topic, so even if the candidate is a psychopath and pathological serial liar - hey - ya' know - you just HAVE TO VOTE!  It's your duty!  (to vote for somebody that is part of the dismemberment of the United States of America, and the Liberty represented by said NATION OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR........WE THE PEOPLE.  

3.  People are talking - the information war is being won by the truth movement - the most promising aspect I can see - and this requires ballsy support from any "old people" like me - support the young kids when they try to explain to their parents that they (their parents) were lied to and that (the kid) has information that they (the parents) oughta' take a careful look at.

Business as usual with the banks

The bailout - where'd all the money go?  Here in my town - the banks took the last wave of "primo" property - they don't own it anymore, that was just their first attack wave.  They dumped all that property and are working on the next ring of land-grab.  How?

Did you ever notice that every new business, some restaurants, car dealerships, law offices, veterinarian offices - all kinds of start-ups - for sure where Iive - are in old bank buildings?

Hmmmmmmm.   Bank goes under, sell the land the bank owns - keep the money.

They - in the middle of the beginning of the next great depression - when nobody is lending money to people like me - a new bank appears on the main road.  They had to remove a monticello to level the ground, grade it, built the steel structure, build one of the largest retaining walls in the city, essentially terraform the place and make a useable business lot.....that a handful of employees work in.

This bank appeared during the banking scandal-stuff that's been going on.  So what does this all mean?

I'm sure we have respectable people running our banks here in my fatherland town.  I say fatherland because "homeland" sounds like we're gonna bake some apple pies together and crank out ice cream to go with it.  On the contrary...we will engage in some critical thought for a second or two.

Now if the bank was built with money that is essentially - inflating away like Helium - just going bye-bye into the atmosphere - and the key to winning in an inflationary market is to "get the money first and spend it on something that is immune to inflation" - that the best thing to do is to take taxpayer bailout money - build and finance a new "bank" that will employ nobody - and use the money to grab a bit of land that is destined - in the long run -(as opposed to the unbacked fiat paper) - destined in the long run - to provide one heckuva' return on investment - either by renting out the "old bank" in a few years on one  of the most valuable plots of land in the state at exorbitant prices - or sell the property for a coupla'three million.

Folks - your money - all of your money pilfered from you - is sitting right there - right in front of you - but you didn't get a single share of stock.  It's private property you bought for that bank - and if you are trying to get some sleep in your '57 Chevy or whatever you are using for a house for you, the mother in law and the kids - you may want to move your sled - because they WILL tow you.

WAR!

Haven't you heard?  We are under attack! But.....

The most attacked aspect of my life so far has been my properties, bank account, retirement, future earnings and taxes.  I've been attacked on all those fronts - I am losing.  I am also aging so will deal with this in a compressed timeline compared to what I would do if I were 23 years old.

War.  What's in it for me?  

You want to have a war for whatever reason.  Let's say these lyin' crooks-in-suits we call "Congressmen", "Senators" - "Judges"

Let's say they are all great and looking out for us when they fine us just one more time for some silly crap that has become way way way out of control

Another cop killed another innocent person in another wrong house.  

We are under attack all right - and I would urge the police to police their ranks and crack the binding on a Constitution - it won't hurt - it's only a couple of pages.  Even

Conclusion

We are on our way up and out of this hole - financially - morally - an awakening is in progress - 

It is time to pick a side - the side of liberty or the side of servitude.

The side of liberty comes with fresh air, freedom of speech and economic security as dessert.

The side of servitude comes with no dessert - just  a job washing the dishes and a kick in the ass from a jack-booted thug with a polyester pants and a plastic G-man badge.

It's your life and your money and your kids.

Thrift Store America (part 1)

You can see it in the real estate. You can feel the retreat from prosperity and purpose. You can sense the poverty and the loss of an entire generation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness… and you can see the, “beginning of the end”, for the America of our childhood conditioning.

Lost in the All-American, time-honored barrage of local moving sales, rummage & yard sales, and the sad but admirable explosion of Thrift and Second-Hand Stores, you can witness the decay of the legend and myth,…the stories told to us in our youth of what America was supposed to be,…and to be about.

The signs are clear on a local level; uncounted closed down businesses, thousands, if not millions of houses that are boarded up to avoid uninhabited damage. Even in the homes that are abandoned, but not boarded up, you can feel the desperation of The American Dream? You know you are broke when you can’t afford to board up a foreclosed home…? I am certainly no college degreed economist, and most of what I’ve learned is through my international experiences, but it seems to me that when the number of Thrift Stores coming online outnumbers the number of new Starbucks and McDonald’s,…the country may have a bit of a problem?

The truly frightening signals are those which smolder out of the burn-pit of our corrupt, unethical government leadership; unmanageable debt, increased police abuses, dead and assaulted members of the “public”, a citizenry grown weary of cow-towing to political, government and “law enforcement” systems that are fraying badly at their ethical edges… and have little or no respect for our Constitutional protections and political limits.

If not for the deadly oil and chemical dispersant wafting over our southern coasts, the radioactive waste misting those of us along the West Coast and the purposeful flooding of the Midwest, perhaps the Citizens of the country may have the time to pay attention to our upcoming political circus, commonly referred to as elections. But really…how many Citizens really still believe in the American Elective process? How many still hold on to that myth of one-man-one-vote, especially when you can push the right button on the voting machine and stand there watching as the vote changes for an opponent? How many Americans still believe in the process?

Not many I’d bet.

How long are we as a people going to sit and be told what do, told what is right, and spoken down to as though mere children? How long can an entire population of a country sit and be lectured to, “how we shouldn’t worry our feeble-little heads”… with the “complex workings of the government”?
How many more years of kidnapping and torture are we going to allow our government to perform? 

Thrift Store America (part 2)

Will my grandchildren someday read a book, just as we now gaze at the stories and photos of the Holocaust? Will my great-grandchildren someday look down upon a similar book, and wonder why Great-Grand-Dad didn’t do a thing to stop the government from torturing and killing its Citizens… and others? How will we explain such behavior being accepted with no probable cause, no trial, no verdict…just turn them into dead people because “The Government” says they should be? Are we that far gone, that we will just continue to accept this? Are we waiting for someone on a white horse and lone-ranger music in the background before we stand up and say, “No more”?

I can understand, given the ethical manner in which government has been managed in my lifetime, I can understand why some would still be willing to accept or believe the proclamations of our morally supreme Leaders? After all, look how up front they have been with us over the years…JFK, RFK, MLK, Vietnam, Watergate, Iran-Contra, Mena-Arkansas, The Clinton Criminal Class, Panama, Iraq I & II, Afghanistan, The Foreclosure Swindle, 911…and so on, and so on and so on?

I can understand why “we the people” would find no need to examine these illegal, immoral and unethical activities, or why such behavior keeps occurring in “The Shining City on the Hill”? In fact, the light from D.C. is so corporately Bright… one wonders how it could continue to be so infested. Who knows…perhaps the Bankers will loan us enough money to hire exterminators?

Unfortunately, you can also see the growing desperation in the hard-scrabble part of America…the “Appalachia Sliver” of the American conscience, where the words poverty and poor take on a whole new meaning. The sad part is, we are not alone in our ever-growing Appalachia Experience, and after a recent ten-day trip across half the country, we were witness to the ever-expanding condition known officially as a “Recession”,…or in certain parts of the country,…you’ll even get to experience another “Great Depression”,…you know, something to help you bond with your indigent Grandmother, as you compare who had it “worse”.

But as a retired, twenty-year veteran employee of The Federal Government, including over two-decades as a “federally protected whistle-blower” (as humorous as that is), I know of the nature of our government leadership, and in my opinion, Webster’s Dictionary is going to need a new definition of the word “corrupt” by the time our country falls apart.
Or, until we realize that we still have the power and unified strength to wrestle the mechanics of government… back from these “Continuity of Government” traitors.

Thrift Store America (part3)
As a first step, I would recommend the following:
-
A National Constitutional Convention - designed to re-invigorate the original founding concepts, rights and status of American Citizens, while amending The Constitution for a 21st century America and its social realities. Additionally, the NCC will be empowered to impeach every member of the standing US Government, and will remove them from office. And by Impeach and Remove, I mean all of them. Every standing member of Congress, The Senate, The President and Vice President, and especially the Supreme Court which voted to allow and approve kidnapping and torture. All of them, gone.


- National Grand Jury – impaneled for whatever period of time is necessary to investigate and prosecute all members of government known to have violated their oaths of office, as well as committing treason, larceny and murder on an international scale, with no statute of limitations. NGJ-Citizen Investigators should be required to open up all of the American Government Archives across our entire history, and we as a people should be told the truth with regard to historic criminal activities.


- Additionally, the NGJ will be empowered to dismantle (through force if necessary) the CIA, the FBI, all “Continuity of Government” plans, operations and operatives, including the US Department of Justice, the EPA, The DoD and every other liberty-sucking parasite that still exists within our compromised government. (These entities can all be reconstructed at a later date, under more limited and ethical standards, if necessary)


- Freeze & Seize Financial Assets- Freeze and seize all financial assets of any member of government for the last forty years. All of them…seize all of their assets, and create a legal process or method for the “innocent” to get their assets returned to them (perhaps with interest). However, for the vast majority of traitorous souls who have been abusing their positions and the citizens for well over forty years…make them prove that the fortune is legally, ethically theirs; make them prove it didn’t come from decades of corrupt acts. Make them show that their ill-gotten millions in self-worth did not come from abusing their oaths or position.


- If not, just like we ordinary citizens who have tolerated our cars being impounded, our property seized and the other elements of the current two-tiered justice system, let the thieves and killers of the last forty years fight to stay out of prison, the death-chamber, or the poor house… just like the rest of us.
