"“Last night, there was little debate, no committee hearings held, no amendments allowed, and no examination of whether our government had lived up to its responsibility to protect the liberty of the people. I commend the House for rejecting the renewal of the PATRIOT Act on these grounds,” Sen. Paul said.

“The fight will continue in the House over the next week. It is likely that even with this temporary victory, the House will pass these extensions and send the PATRIOT Act renewal to the Senate. And when they do, I will oppose it,” he continued."

Patriot Act extension fails in the House by seven votes

"The White House said in a statement Tuesday that it "does not object" to extending the three Patriot Act provisions until December. However, it added, the administration "would strongly prefer" an extension until December 2013, noting that the longer timeline "provides the necessary certainty and predictability" that law enforcement agencies require while at the same time ensuring that Congress can continue to review the law's effectiveness.
The Senate is considering three competing timelines, in addition to the House legislation. Among them are proposals that would permanently extend the three provisions or extend them through 2013."

Note:  The real question is:  How many of these "representatives" actually read what they were signing - especially given the number of law-yers in said group.

I can only hope that members of the house voting for this NAZI legislation feel its full effects brought to bear on members of their own family.  Then they will squeal like the pigs they are.
Anybody voting for this is a coward because they are willing to sacrifice liberty for temporary (perceived- not real) "safety."
