Rutherford Institute Defends Marine Arrested, Incarcerated in Psych Ward & Detained Indefinitely for Posting Political Views

.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Support-our-troops.jpg

Support our troops!  Support our veterans! (Unless they exercise their first amendment right to free speech.)

Please consider this recent development following the arrest of one of OUR VETERANS ..... (LINK here):

"CHESTERFIELD, VA— The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of a former Marine, 26-year-old Brandon Raub, who was arrested, detained indefinitely in a psych ward and forced to undergo psychological evaluations based solely on the controversial nature of lines from song lyrics, political messages and virtual card games which he posted to his private Facebook page.

Although the FBI and Chesterfield County police have not charged Brandon Raub, a resident of Chesterfield County, Va., with committing any crime, they arrested Raub on Thursday, August 16, 2012, and transported him to John Randolph Medical Center, where he was held against his will due to alleged concerns that his Facebook posts were controversial and “terrorist in nature.” In a hearing held at the hospital, government officials disregarded Raub’s explanation that the Facebook posts were being interpreted out of context, sentencing him up to 30 days’ further confinement in a VA psych ward. In coming to Raub’s defense, Rutherford Institute attorneys are challenging Raub’s arrest and forcible detention, as well as the government’s overt Facebook surveillance and violation of Raub’s First Amendment rights.

“For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon. This should be a wake-up call to Americans that the police state is here,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute.""
Actions vs. Words
Here in Virginia, not too long ago , we were treated to the words of State government leaders that arbitrary arrests of outspoken Virginians by power-mad Federal enforcers would not be aided by State employees:
From THIS ARTICLE we learn:
"On Wednesday, the Virginia legislature overwhelmingly passed a law that forbids state agencies from cooperating with any federal attempt to exercise the indefinite detention without due process provisions written into sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
HB1160 “Prevents any agency, political subdivision, employee, or member of the military of Virginia from assisting an agency of the armed forces of the United States in the conduct of the investigation, prosecution, or detention of a United States citizen in violation of the United States Constitution, Constitution of Virginia, or any Virginia law or regulation.”"
Since the actions of the power-hungry Feds trump the words of the law abiding today in Amerika -a Marine veteran was locked up and sent to a psychological hospital for evaluation - with the help of the police.

The actions of the Stalinist feds once again prove that our Virginia government workers are just talk.  There were local police involved in the arrest - so they just went along with the plan - you know - to just..... lock him up.....no charges.  Just following orders ... they obviously "know nothing" about the Bill of Rights.....but this is no laughing matter...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogan's_Heroes

The point was made by citizens that the HB1160 law was just words - since nowhere did these great protectors of our rights put into their words on paper that they would actually do anything to stop the Feds if the feds did indeed attempt to violate our rights.  In this case - the local government workers masquerading as police just helped out.  I guess they care more about their stinkin' jobs than they do about the rights of the citizens they are supposed to protect.  Are you surprised?  I'm not.
Are YOU next?

It's funny - many people think that they can call the police to save them if someone comes to forcibly remove them from their home for arbitrary reasons.  Not any more.  It's the cops and plainclothes gunslingers violating your rights now - maybe we should fire all of them before they arrest any more of us.  What good are these trigger-happy scofflaws?
When will the knock come at your door?  It may not be for you - it may be for your family member who just got home from the wars the neo-cons started.  Maybe you can very carefully, not making any sudden moves around "police" you know - very carefully hold up a copy of HB1160 when they come to get you.  It might work - but I doubt it - because laws mean nothing when you are staring down the barrel of a gun.  And that's what they brought to arrest this veteran.  They brought guns and gun-slingers - but no legal foundation for their actions.  Kinda' reminds me of a witch-hunt.  At least they didn't kill him or anyone around or any dogs.  The cameras probably helped.
I give thanks to the Rutherford Institute - because you never know - it may not be You that is next - it might be Me requiring their services.  They must be a welcome site from the inside of a jail cell - or - psychiatric hospital.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/Cuckoo_clock_cartoon_by_Ub_Iwerks.jpg

Jail for unpopular speech.  How crazy is that?  How ironic indeed - that enforcers crazy enough to trample our Bill of Rights and everything it stands for - took their victim to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.  Talk about the nuts running the nut-house.
If local government and law enforcement don't stiffen their spines soon - they will prove their worthlessness to a public tired of paying for them to abuse us.  If that's all they care about - their jobs - and not the preservation of liberty - perhaps after they are layed off and they start bitching they will find themselves in the very same psychiatric ward for evaluation.
Here's another LINK where we learn:
"Col. Thierry Dupuis, the county police chief, said Raub was taken into custody upon the recommendation of mental health crisis intervention workers. He said the action was taken under the state's emergency custody statute, which allows a magistrate to order the civil detention and psychiatric evaluation of a person who is considered potentially dangerous.

He said Raub was handcuffed because he resisted officers' attempts to take him into custody."

Wowee!  This police chief is a Colonel!  Remind me to salute!  I am sorry - Colonel Sir - but it is really really really hard to understand why you had to handcuff a man upon which you had no charges....Sir.
Oh wait - a shrink told you he's crazy?  Do the shrinks make the laws Colonel Sir?
Or are you too chicken to face up to the feds and do your job?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Harland_Sanders.jpg
If these "mental health crisis intervention government workers" are so very keen - Colonel....... - ........SIR !.... and these "mental health crisis intervention government workers"  are so tuned in to this ONE Marine veteran - who did nothing more than exercise his rightS YOU ARE PAID TO PROTECT -how did they get "caught off guard" by this?:
"

"U.S. military averaging a suicide a day in 2012

(AP) WASHINGTON - Suicides are surging among America's troops, averaging nearly one a day this year — the fastest pace in the nation's decade of war.

The 146 suicides for active-duty troops in the first 148 days of the year far outdistance the U.S. forces killed in action in Afghanistan — about 50 percent more — according to Pentagon statistics obtained by The Associated Press.

The numbers reflect a military burdened with wartime demands from Iraq and Afghanistan that have taken a greater toll than foreseen a decade ago. The military also is struggling with increased sexual assaults, alcohol abuse, domestic violence and other misbehavior.

Because suicides had leveled off in 2010 and 2011, this year's upswing has caught some officials by surprise."

Our police - as a whole - are a complete disgrace to everything America is supposed to stand for.  There is no excuse for "just following orders" -prior to examination of said orders to determine LEGALITY - not over the weekend - after the fact - showing up on Monday with a new story that contradicts earlier excuses for violating a citizens' rights - NOT EVEN if those orders came from a "mental health crisis intervention government worker."
Conclusion
Those with no respect for the rights of citizens should quit police work or be fired.  Unless they are auditioning for a role in the stalag they are helping to erect ....

Great news!

No there really is great news:  Birds.

Sparrow I know - name is Hatcher.

It all started the day after the storm - no - not that long ago - maybe 7 days?  I can't remember - been really busy you know....

I walked into the kitchen - we have a view of the side where you can see a way-high-up-off-the-ground perch - atop the curved downspout of the drainpipe to the gutter under the eve on the corner of the house.

I have an old Celestron Mak-Cass 90  - the birds must have hatched today - first time I ever saw "Hatcher" move - all I ever saw for a week+ was:

1.  Nest appears - glued with mud to leaves to the "spiral" twig nest .....to the top of an aluminum gutter downspout.
2.  Nest is positioned so that the spotlights for the yard, when on, don't bother Hatcher, but illuminate the entire area, which is a grassy hill, lots of water, bugs, worms etc...
3.  Hatcher sat on those eggs - low profile - pecked around in the nest occasionally - either pointing toward the house or away - never saw Hatcher fly, walk - just appears, disappears.
4.  Today - walked into the house at 1740 or so hours - never walked over to the spotting scope to look (first thing I do when I walk into the house since the nest has been built) - didn't have time - as I was emptying all the corporate-Amerika shit out of my pockets - I could see Hatcher fly from the woods to the nest and stand there looking and working up-down into the nest.
5.  Looked into the scope - Heaven.  There it was - what our home has to offer.
6.  Usually I'm a hermit and have work to do - but I couldn't help myself - I just had to call my neighbor - can't mention names - but if I didn't get somebody that loves nature over here - I went over and got
7.  We watched the mother feed the chicks.  Sparrow.  I waited so long for that picture.

Onto less important things:

1.  The presidential election doesn't exist except in fantasy-land (Teevee and corporate-owned screedia)
2.  The new angle on why you have to vote for dumb or dumber is because "we can't ever agree with anyone on every topic, so even if the candidate is a psychopath and pathological serial liar - hey - ya' know - you just HAVE TO VOTE!  It's your duty!  (to vote for somebody that is part of the dismemberment of the United States of America, and the Liberty represented by said NATION OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR........WE THE PEOPLE.

3.  People are talking - the information war is being won by the truth movement - the most promising aspect I can see - and this requires ballsy support from any "old people" like me - support the young kids when they try to explain to their parents that they (their parents) were lied to and that (the kid) has information that they (the parents) oughta' take a careful look at.

Business as usual with the banks

The bailout - where'd all the money go?  Here in my town - the banks took the last wave of "primo" property - they don't own it anymore, that was just their first attack wave.  They dumped all that property and are working on the next ring of land-grab.  How?

Did you ever notice that every new business, some restaurants, car dealerships, law offices, veterinarian offices - all kinds of start-ups - for sure where Iive - are in old bank buildings?

Hmmmmmmm.   Bank goes under, sell the land the bank owns - keep the money.

They - in the middle of the beginning of the next great depression - when nobody is lending money to people like me - a new bank appears on the main road.  They had to remove a monticello to level the ground, grade it, built the steel structure, build one of the largest retaining walls in the city, essentially terraform the place and make a useable business lot.....that a handful of employees work in.

This bank appeared during the banking scandal-stuff that's been going on.  So what does this all mean?

I'm sure we have respectable people running our banks here in my fatherland town.  I say fatherland because "homeland" sounds like we're gonna bake some apple pies together and crank out ice cream to go with it.  On the contrary...we will engage in some critical thought for a second or two.

Now if the bank was built with money that is essentially - inflating away like Helium - just going bye-bye into the atmosphere - and the key to winning in an inflationary market is to "get the money first and spend it on something that is immune to inflation" - that the best thing to do is to take taxpayer bailout money - build and finance a new "bank" that will employ nobody - and use the money to grab a bit of land that is destined - in the long run -(as opposed to the unbacked fiat paper) - destined in the long run - to provide one heckuva' return on investment - either by renting out the "old bank" in a few years on one  of the most valuable plots of land in the state at exorbitant prices - or sell the property for a coupla'three million.

Folks - your money - all of your money pilfered from you - is sitting right there - right in front of you - but you didn't get a single share of stock.  It's private property you bought for that bank - and if you are trying to get some sleep in your '57 Chevy or whatever you are using for a house for you, the mother in law and the kids - you may want to move your sled - because they WILL tow you.

WAR!

Haven't you heard?  We are under attack! But.....

The most attacked aspect of my life so far has been my properties, bank account, retirement, future earnings and taxes.  I've been attacked on all those fronts - I am losing.  I am also aging so will deal with this in a compressed timeline compared to what I would do if I were 23 years old.

War.  What's in it for me?

You want to have a war for whatever reason.  Let's say these lyin' crooks-in-suits we call "Congressmen", "Senators" - "Judges"

Let's say they are all great and looking out for us when they fine us just one more time for some silly crap that has become way way way out of control

Another cop killed another innocent person in another wrong house.

We are under attack all right - and I would urge the police to police their ranks and crack the binding on a Constitution - it won't hurt - it's only a couple of pages.  Even

heres the article:

"Unfortunately, this incident will only give citizens more reasons to fear and avoid law enforcement.

The police may be protecting us from criminals, but who’s protecting us from the police?"

here's another
"A 61-year-old man was shot to death bypolice while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug raid on the wrong house.
Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door."

Conclusion

We are on our way up and out of this hole - financially - morally - an awakening is in progress -

It is time to pick a side - the side of liberty or the side of servitude.

The side of liberty comes with fresh air, freedom of speech and economic security as dessert.

The side of servitude comes with no dessert - just  a job washing the dishes and a kick in the ass from a jack-booted thug with a polyester pants and a plastic G-man badge.

It's your life and your money and your kids.

DUNCE ALERT! Charlton Library Sends Police To Collect Overdue Books From 5-Year-Old

Read below about the kid the cops scared the hell out of for their paycheck

From HERE:

"CHARLTON (CBS) – A Charlton mom says her local library crossed the line when they sent police to collect her daughter’s overdue library books.

Her mom says the 5-year-old girl was so afraid that she burst into tears.

Even Sgt. Dowd admits he wasn’t real keen on it.
“Nobody wanted to, on this end to get involved in it,” says Sgt. Dowd. “But the library contacted us, and the chief delegated, and apparently I was one of the low men on the totem pole.”"
---------
Note:
How many ways are there to say "stupid?"
As I attempt to write more cogently - I find myself thwarted time and again by the idiotic things police do.  I cannot find the words to describe the idiocy, viciousness, or sadistic services rendered by our nation's finest.  After all - following orders trumps common sense when you're in the PO-LEECE.
What was this cop gonna' do if the kid gave him a hard time - shoot the kid?  Really  - all this over a library book/s?
This is the mentality of many of the police in this country I'm afraid - since they are afraid - of losing their job in this miserable economy.  Hey - scare the crap out of kids for a living right?  - I couldn't do it.
Hi:  I murdered a guy in a bar for nothing 'cause I'm a cop and I can do anything I want!  See below.

Here's another dandy since we're on the subject of stupid cops.  These stories are never hard to find:  LINK HERE
"An altercation allegedly broke out after the police officer told one of the friends 'I’m better at darts than you are', Chris Hull, 39, told Patch.com.
'My buddy says, "Aw, you suck at darts". (The man) says, "That’s why I’m a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'
Hull tsaid his friend asked; 'Really, you can do anything?'
The police officer then pulled out his gun, Hull claimed and after the group repeatedly asked him to put it away he 'pops three rounds into my friend Sam'.
The ten-year department veteran appeared  at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley in a red prison uniform, on Friday charged with murder.""

Yep - isn't that grand?  These are the people we are counting on to protect our rights.

Don't you feel "safe?"

Do you still believe that only the police should have guns?

Do you really believe that cops wouldn't follow orders to "take you away" if that's the orders they've been given?

Better wake up...

Movers, sheriff's deputies refuse to evict 103-year-old woman

"Fulton County sheriff's deputies and movers showed up at Lee's home Tuesday after Deutch Bank planned to kick the two women out.

The moving company and the deputies took one look at Lee and decided that would not happen."

Read more HERE

--------------
Note:  This IS a miracle - the police didn't shoot anybody!  Just kidding.  This is encouraging.

I must give credit to law enforcement here for realizing what they were doing - simply carrying out orders for a bank.  It's too bad that something as insane as kicking these seniors out is what it takes for them to actually wake up and realize what they are doing when they carry out the orders of banksters.

But remember - somebody at the bank gave the orders.  Who?  Were they aware that they were throwing PEOPLE out into the street?  Where did they think these PEOPLE would have gone had the sheriff been the Sheriff of Nottingham and not these good guys?  Obviously the folks at the bank couldn't care less.  Obviously we are all just numbers on a spreadsheet, another 1 or 0 in a computer somewhere...

These banks are no good for any of us.  Let's get rid of the Federal Reserve.  Let's get Ron Paul in there since he is the only candidate with the sense to stop the bleeding from the wars, bring the troops home, and kick out the banksters.

Real Heroes and Media Misrepresentations

-----Here's what real heroes look like.  Our country would be in such better shape if our police followed this man's example.

...veterans

...citizens

...and then we have the enemy calling them "demonic"

...more veterans the Faux News media shills claim to support...

...don't forget this veteran's famous stand

...but who is this special person in the suit that doesn't have to move?

...look how Hannity thanks our troops when they return from fighting the wars he served as cheerleader for...there is some appropriate disgust expressed by a "narrator" that uploaded this vid...

Fair and Balanced.  Yep.  Fair and balanced - the occupy protestors are "liberals" - the occupy protesters are lazy and don't want to work the fair and balanced people tell us.

What a pitiful misrepresentation our real heros suffer from paid media liars.  It is becoming painfully obvious to the public that the "mainstream media" - has become a moribund embarrassment.

As more police and veterans join the cause - those in the self-proclaimed "fair and balanced" corporate disinformation machine will no longer be able to pretend to "support the troops" - they will be shown as the users they are - users of people - abusers of our military -

Yes - our moribund "mainstream" personalities are finally showing their true colors as the "sunshine patriots" they really are.

Many thanks to police and veterans for joining the Occupy cause as their ranks will help put the final stake in the vampire media.

3 for 1 Deal: Home from a hard days work (and retired): Cops gun down their own sons to protect you...

Nothing like shooting your son to death after coming home from a hard days work.  Yes - these are three examples of police self-control to pay attention to.

Luckily for us the rest of the police exercise similar restraint when using their firearm to kill someone - right?

Sorry didn't know how to remove the commercials selling you junk before they provide "news" about how these poor police were acting in self defense against their own children.

Bag'em and tag 'em!  What's for dinner Mom?

...Retired cop in Florida...SOMEBODY IN THE VID SAYS "this is routine..." notice the nonchalance with which the police guy prepares to shoot his son. He's already outside to get the gun then goes back to gun him down. Yeeeee haw!

Cops turn woman's house into a pigsty

"While police shot tear gas into the home, a mother dog and her three puppies were still inside the house.

“They told her if there was anything left in that house, it’s dead,” she said. “We were hysterical and thought the puppies were dead, the other dog was dead.”
The dogs, fortunately, are in good condition. The house isn’t."
Read more HERE and watch the video.
-----------------
Note:  Must be a fun job-being a cop.  I thought wrecking things was fun when I was a child too.  The gassing the puppies part and abuse of the citizens doesn't seem appealing to me - so I can't be a cop.  I also don't like kicking people's teeth in, shooting blind wood carvers holding closed knives, shotgunning kids pets right in front of the family when a little dog jumps out of a car on the side of the interstate wagging its tail - no - I don't think police work is for me.

Seems that to be a cop these days you have to like dressing up like a soldier, in a mask, with a helmet, gun, all this equipment - then must be willing to mete out abuse to citizens whose rights you're supposed to be protecting.  Obviously not a career I'd be able to survive for long.

I just don't like the idea of destroying people's lives - which seems the norm for cops now.  Pretty sad really.

Let me put in the usual golly-gwarsh obligatory amidst police brutality gone amok in this country and say:  "But most of them are really good guys/gals."

Ok now let's see why else I wouldn't be a cop - I don't like shocking people with a Taser  - never know - what if they have a heart condition - or they are standing on a bridge from which they may fall to their death, as was the case in a police tasering not too long ago.  No - I wouldn't be able to sleep that night.

I don't know if, as a cop, I'd be able to plant drugs on innocent people just to meet arrest quotas - as was recently testified to by a cop up North - New York maybe?  There's so many cases of police abuse and corruption it's impossible to keep it all straight.  I think they call that a "new norm" - you know - where police will just blow you away as soon as look at you - wreck your house - trample on your rights - and if you somehow blow a gasket and kill one of them - you're done since you've now joined the ranks of the "cop-killer."  That's a worse killer than a "regular-people-killer" - which is what cops who murder innocents are.  "Cop-killer_ is another American trigger-word to make sure that those abusing power can ensure that fighting back against tyranny will come only at the most severe price.  We all know a cop's life is worth more than yours and mine put together- right?  That's the message from the court system - so that's the reality we might as well get straight in our heads - right?  Wrong.  The courts are letting these guys go and their presence continues to poison the ranks of police everywhere.

I guess I won't be putting in an application for police work anytime soon.  But I'm sure the police will police themselves and ensure that what happened to this lady's house will never happen again.  (Don't hold your breath.)

"In the early morning hours of Nov. 25, 2006, Sean Bell, a 23-year-old New York City man due to be married later that day, walked out of a Queens strip club, climbed into a gray Nissan Altima with two friends who had been celebrating with him — and died in a hail of 50 bullets fired by a group of five police officers."

A Paragon of Police Excellence and the Wall Street Protests

Who/what are the police pepper-spraying and beating the Wall Street protesters for?* Do they know?  Do they care?  Time to put on your thinking caps my "public servant" friends.

First:  Their soon-to-disappear paycheck - as funds dry up for their swollen ranks.  Yes - that fat blue line will become a thin blue line shortly - why?  The money is drying up!  We don't have anymore money for cops fighting a fake "war on drugs" - a fake "war on horror" or any other idiotic undefinable charade.  No more money for these public "servants."

Second:  Following orders.  What are the orders and who is giving them?  Are the orders to pepper-spray women you have penned in with a plastic "police line" fence that the dumbass lot of you can't erect with the words right-side-up?  Anyone following orders that are unethical and immoral will find that the "wheels of justice grind slowly" - whether you wear a blue suit or blue hair.  It doesn't matter.

Third:
"Donations from the political action committees and executives of Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo - banks that received $95 billion in federal bailout funds - account for one-fifth of the $4.3 million in campaign cash donated by commercial banking interests to the 12 supercommittee members.

Supercommittee co-chair Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) received the most from the big banks. Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo have given Hensarling a total of $188,962 during his Congressional career. Hensarling also serves as the vice chair of the House Financial Services Committee and has received a total of $3.9 million from financial interests." read more HERE

C'mon police.  Get with it.  The revolution is here.  Keep up the pepper spraying and you may show up for work to find a thousand "Guy Fawkes'" with pepper-spray ready to hose YOUR peepers down with!  That is just human nature. It's time to grow up, wake up and face reality - you are in it with the rest of us!

When I see cops punching non-violent protesters in the face, pepper-spraying them...yes...I tend to generalize about police - but that is wrong.  I know there are many many outstanding public servants out there wearing that uniform.  I don't want to fall into that trap.  I hope you good guys out there can police your own ranks if the idiots in charge won't do it.

Here is an example of an outstanding sheriff setting the example for police everywhere:Outstanding public servants like the sheriff in the video below show that 20% of the people do 80% of the work - and we can never ever forget that brave 20%.

Where are the rest of you?

Attention Law Enforcement:  The Feds are selling guns to gangsters to kill your brothers!  And all you have time to do is beat up and pepper-spray peaceful protesters, women, and ....what?  Where is YOUR SELF-RESPECT?  Or is that the problem - you have none - and therefore none for the citizens paying your way?

Law enforcement:  Are you Brave?  PROVE IT!  Stand up for what is GOOD AND RIGHT and lose the "cop-out" bullshit "orders" excuse.

YOUR OWN FATE AND THAT OF YOUR OWN FAMILIES REST ON A VERY THIN BLUE LINE INDEED.

Pick a side.  Just remember - you and your family will live with your decision for a very long time.
