How did Jefferson know?

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the
brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement:
"This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to
gather at one time in the White House with the exception of
when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
Especially read the last quote from 1802.

When we get piled
upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
we shall become as corrupt as Europe .
Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist
when you take away from those
who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every
generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save
one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for
Americans if they can prevent the government
from wasting the labors of the people under the
pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me
that most bad government results from too much
government.
Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred
the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the
people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to protect themselves
against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be
refreshed from time to time with the blood of
patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with
his taxes the propagation of ideas which he
disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that
banking institutions are more dangerous to
our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow
private banks to control the issue of their
currency, first by inflation, then by
deflation, the banks and corporations that will
grow up around the banks will deprive the people
of all property - until their children
wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers
conquered.'

  1. "[The Indians] take up the hatchet against us, and the crule [sic] massacres they have committed on the women and children of our frontiers taken by surprise, will oblige us now to pursue them to extermination." -- Thomas Jefferson

"Sally Hemmings? Damn, that was some of the best slave-raping I ever done!" -- Thomas Jefferson

Ok, I made up the second quote, obviously. Though, the guy was indeed a slave raper. The first quote is perfectly real.

USAmericans have to deal with the fact that ALL of your land is stolen. Your country was built by slaves. Your wealth has largely been stolen from the rest of the world.

And that makes your heroes anti-heroes.

Honestly, wtf is it you're so fucking proud of?

  2. Jefferson was having the love affair of his life in France when he supposedly started up with Sally Hemmings...also, the genetic evidence points to equal probability that Jefferson's brother was the father of her children...he had already done so with other slaves.

What was done to Native Americans was against Christian morals...but it was directly in keeping with Native American rules of strongest take what they want...

  3. This "slave rape" is interesting. How do you know he raped her? Where is the evidence of that? Another interpretation can be that Thomas Jefferson was an anti-racist since he liked black women.

    He still built Monticello.

He wrote the Declaration of Independence - it did not write itself.

We are all hypocrites in varying degrees. Where did the land you are standing come from my friend? I suppose your property differs from the property of the rest of humanity and is not "stolen" as you put it.

Do you think European and Canadian land isn't "stolen?"

All land was "stolen" at one time or another.

None of this detracts from the greatness that was Thomas Jefferson and the great things he left us.

    Who are your heroes?

  4. You're right, the white guys that ran the place back then didn't give a hoot about blacks or the environment or building bathrooms for transexuals. Today we are all so much smarter and more sensitive to these issues. But we have forgotten about the dangers of tyranny and we are all in danger of experiencing "some of the best slave raping" ever done. Read those quotes again. They apply to all of us regardless of color or anything else. Our freedom depends on them. Your attempt to muddy the issue with personal attacks on the speaker only helps those who are enslaving us all. Good work ahole.

  5. What we are proud of is the formation of a revolutionary concept of governing which is enshrined in the Constitution and a beacon of light all across the globe. It is true that manifest destiny was a genocidal principle and we committed a great crime against the native population of north America. We cannot go back in time, to fix that, we must move forward and preserve what is promising about our nation the ideas of self determination, equal justice and religious freedom. The best way to make amends to Native Americans is to make this country live up to the promise of the Statue of Liberty.

  6. Please realize that taking quotes out of context proves nothing! Our Founding Fathers were even more concerned about the concentration of wealth than of the so-called redistribution of wealth!! Franklin said a man should own no more property than he needed to make a living. Jefferson worked against the laws re. inherited wealth. TJ also said America would become a paradise by "taxing the rich." Search his letter to Kosciusko re.taxing the rich and be amazed! NO ONE ever mentions what TJ said on this matter. Also check out "To Have and Have Not" by Michael Lind--an honest conservative.

To those who accuse Jefferson--I'll take Jefferson's thought processes and accomplishments over your low-mindness any day!

  8. In Jefferson's day a citizen could be armed as well as any soldier. Today when the government comes to take your guns they won't be carrying flintlock muskets, and when they aim that 50 cal mounted atop the guntruck at you, you'll drop your guns... or die.

  9. An argument over a politician. Original. Humans are morally corrupt so this sort of thing can be argued over and over for the next ten thousand years(If we are still here.) The bottom line is that everyone wants what THEY want-no matter who has to die for it.

If humans don't evolve they will destroy themselves.

People think that this planet was always inhabited by humans. Nope. Just like they came they can go-either by their own hands or Mother Nature's. This time I am certain we will destroy one another.

The Earth will still keep spinning.

So pick your arguments and make yourself feel good about them. Until you change as people tick tock you're marching toward your own destruction. Quickly.

  10. So Lili, are you an anarchist? These arguments are not to "feel good" arguments - they are discussions with a purpose. To find ways that we can live together.

Do you "feel good" about your argument?

  11. Reality check; back in his day over one hundred years it was as fashionable to have as slave as it is today to have a cell phone. We all know about the slaves that was then this is now. What he did was amazing; he ran against the banks and won his banner read simply Jackson and no banks; he fired 3 VP's who dared to oppose him. When was the last time a VP was fired? Let's focus on what he successfully did he kept the banks out of our government for about 75 years and ran on keeping banks at bay. Bless his heart a million times for having the guts to stand up to the banks, they also tried to assisinate him; the gun simply did not go off. Say what you will...he was a great man, a great american, a great president. Obama is trying to make all of us slaves TODAY to the bankers blacks, whites, browns, reds, yellow all of us. Kennedy who introduced executive order 11110 to bring back the greenbacks to push the Fed Reserve back he was assisinated shortly thereafter.
I do not want to be a slave, I do not to be chipped, I do not want this illegal bank, I do not want the Rothchild's controlling my life or my children's life. Today it is unfashionable to own slaves, tell that to Obama. He wants to be our master.

  13. Andrew Jackson (Old Hickory), I think, is the President anon. 12:21 is mixing up with Jefferson. Here is a segment from the Wikipedia article on Andrew Jackson - regarding the assassination attempt - and the banking angle:
"On January 30, 1835, ... just outside the United States Capitol. When Jackson was leaving the Capitol out of the East Portico after the funeral of South Carolina Representative Warren R. Davis, Richard Lawrence, an unemployed and deranged housepainter from England, either burst from a crowd or stepped out from hiding behind a column and aimed a pistol at Jackson, which misfired. Lawrence then pulled out a second pistol, which also misfired. It has been postulated that moisture from the humid weather contributed to the double misfiring.[50] Lawrence was then restrained, with legend saying that Jackson attacked Lawrence with his cane, prompting his aides to restrain him. Others present, including David Crockett, restrained and disarmed Lawrence.
Richard Lawrence gave the doctors several reasons for the shooting. He had recently lost his job painting houses and somehow blamed Jackson. He claimed that with the President dead, "money would be more plenty" (a reference to Jackson's struggle with the Bank of the United States) and that he "could not rise until the President fell." Finally, he informed his interrogators that he was a deposed English King—specifically, Richard III, dead since 1485—and that Jackson was merely his clerk. He was deemed insane, institutionalized, and never punished for his assassination attempt."

This is amazing - nowadays they would just gun the guy down. America has gone downhill with the shoot-to-kill cowardice rampant now.

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She
put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is

I ain't saying your content is not good, however what if you added a title to maybe get folk's
attention? I mean "How did Jefferson know?" is kinda plain.

You might look at Yahoo's front page and see how they create article headlines to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a picture or two to get people interested about everything've written.

In my opinion, it might bring your posts a little livelier.
