Funeral held for Nebraska school gunman

"Police Chief Alex Hayes has said Butler's father, who is an Omaha police detective, saw no indication of his son's violent plan after he was suspended Wednesday for driving on the school's football field on New Year's Day.

Butler's relatives have said they were shocked and confused. And many friends, who remember Butler as a caring class clown who loved his car, say they can't understand why the shooting happened.

"I honestly do not know why he would do that," said 18-year-old Kelsie Baird, who considered Butler one of her best friends."
