Now what Exactly was the change you Obama voters hoped for?

-------------------
I didn't vote for President Obama because he had no track record proving to me that his actions matched campaign promises. I voted for the promises Dubya made eight or so years ago (more humbler foreign policy being one I fell for) and found out the hard way that talk is cheap - it is action that really matters. I can't think of a single promise kept from the Bush campaign - I can't think of anything done by the Bush administration that helped anyone I personally know anywhere. That is a universal statement - and I mean it. That, I think, is saying a lot.

Fast forward to the Obama campaign. Perhaps you've heard the saying that "a sure sign of insanity is repeating the same action while expecting a different outcome each time." My lesson learned - don't vote for promises - vote on proven track records - don't make the same mistake twice. I supported Ron Paul based on his consistent record of action matching principals and promises. But forget that for now - Obama was elected - he's OUR president - yours and mine. (Apologies to non-American readers) I want to join the Obama supporters in supporting our new president. So far I don't think I can. Why?

Because the signs I've seen so far like (CLICK) this article where we read:
"Speaking to the State Department after Richard Holbrooke was appointed Special US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Obama said the worsening situation in the region poses a grave threat to what he called 'global security.'

"Afghanistan and Pakistan are the central front in the America's war against terrorism and the deteriorating situation in the region poses a grave threat to the global security. It's an international challenge of the highest order. That's why we are pursuing a careful review of our policy."

One problem I have with the statement above is the phrase "war against terrorism" which is really meaningless - or can mean anything anyone wants it to mean. It is a propagandistic phrase that we are all supposed to pretend we understand while none of us can define. I had hoped Obama was smart enough to understand that as someone said "a problem properly defined is half solved." What kind of problem statement is "war against terrorism?" What about things the U.S. military does that terrorize our foes? Are we at war against that terrorism too? This is not a word game - this is propaganda for public consumption - I'm not buying it.

Here's another reason I'm concerned that Obama isn't changing much regarding America's empire-oriented foreign policy. (CLICK) This article reports:
"At least seven people were killed, most of them foreigners, in a suspected US missile strike in northwest Pakistan, bringing to 15 the number killed in such attacks on Friday, officials said.
Friday's suspected US missile strikes were the first since US President Barack Obama took office in Washington and came one day after he appointed veteran diplomat Richard Holbrooke special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan."

Then I came across this video regarding the banking situation and those Obama has appointed to key positions:

I also found (CLICK) this article by Grossman describing appointments made by Obama regarding the military-industrial-scientific complex.

Here is (CLICK) another article reporting on troop buildups coming for Afghanistan. Why? What is the mission?

We also know Obama appointed Rahm Emanuel, a former Israeli soldier, as the second most powerful man in the country. I don't see how change will come to America's policy toward Israel - a policy I disagree with very much since it seems so one-sided. If you don't think Rahm was in the Israeli military, watch this video where he doesn't deny it:

Now I ask you, reader, if you voted for Obama, are these moves representative of the change you voted for? Do you believe these initial moves are helping America? Why? How? Help me to understand exactly what it is you had hoped Obama would change because so far I see more of the same.

I would appreciate comments - I'm not picking a fight - but I would love to get on board with the "change we can believe in."

  1. I'll admit that I voted for Obama, reluctantly, because I fell for the "he's a closet Muslim" and free "Obsession" DVDs being distributed by newspapers. I was secretly hoping that these types of attacks signaled that he wasn't 100% in the pocket of Israel. I was duped. I'm ashamed to admit it -- but I knew I was duped the moment he picked Rahm.

I supported Paul in the primaries. I wish he had run as a third party candidate. But, I picked the lesser of two evils and I'm afraid I may have actually ended up with a worse evil. McCain, who is clearly suffering from dementia or something, was bad. But, he wouldn't have been given a grace period before it was okay to start criticizing him. Obama, saying what we want to hear and being the first black president, is going to be afforded much more time and leeway before anyone really starts to criticize him. Critics can be silenced with the charge of "racism" (and we know from charges of "anti-semitism" against Israel's critics that this strategy will be very effective because the media will make it so). People are so desperate for Obama to come in and do something so they don't have to take any personal risk to bring about change. I guess, in a way, I'm probably guilty of that somewhat myself.

Obama buys the powers that be time to really screw us over before we catch on. I think they are just going to loot every cent we have, try to get us to take out their perceived enemies while we still have a military capable of fighting -- then they will move on to other hosts (like China) that they can devour. Obama is just a drug for the masses. And he has a bonus of stirring up racial problems (gotta keep people fighting each other so they don't go after the real culprits -- the elite).

I still have plenty of friends and family that are just so proud to have witnessed history. I am happy that it is possible for a black man to become president. What I'd really like to see, though, is for it to be possible to have a president that isn't pro-Israel. He doesn't have to be anti-Israel (nor should he be, really, we need neutrality in our foreign policy), but I dream of a day when you don't have to campaign IN Israel just to get the job of President of the US. I don't think I will ever see THAT in my lifetime ...

  2. So Scarlett, should you put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger, so we don't have to worry about you voting for the lesser of two evils again?

  4. Bravo Scarlett!

Now about Bozo's gun suggestion ... you may very well end up needing that pistol however it will be for the purpose that the Founding Fathers intended it for: to defend this country from traitors and their foreign masters.

  5. How much longer will these needless wars led by Israel continue? Will it 'change' under Obama? Highly doubtful, after his 'no comment' about Palestine. Israel already owns Obama after he picked Rahm Emanuel, the son of a terrorist, as Chief of Staff. Obama will probably let Mossad slide on their 9/11 involvement and Obama will continue Middle East wars. So who owns the new US President? Israel does, as always.

  6. I supported Ron Paul during the primaries, and Obama (the lesser evil) afterwards.

    I'm still glad I did.

He has made a lot of mistakes already, most importantly appointing Rahm Emanuel and Hitlery Clinton, but he also did a few things right, and those few things are what "Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran" McCain would never have done, such as repealing Bush's secrecy policies. He has ordered Gitmo closed and he has signed a pledge to restore the constitution (a pledge both McCain and Clinton refused to sign).

While I'm fairly certain Obama is one of "them", these things make me believe he (unlike Bush) actually has a brain and might refuse to carry out some of the more extreme orders they give him (e.g. pulling off another 9/11).

I still have hope that Obama is another JFK -- appointed by them, supported by them, and still so capable of independent thought that he may be a problem for them (watch out for those assassins, Barack...)

  8. Closing the prison in Guantanamo is good news. However it appears to be more of a publicity stunt than anything else. There is a huge new prison being built in Afghanistan, along with the one in Abu Grahib Iraq being refurbished and re-named.

    Chains you can believe in.

  11. It was rather obvious from about January of '08 that we were being given a choice between two republicans for president. While if McSame had stolen the presidency, I'm sure we would be facing WW3 by now, I can't say I'm surprised at how Obama is shaping up.

  12. Ah, the naivity of you all. In your hearts you must realize that the plutocracy has the system rigged. As our Founders feared democracy, our present leaders (call them guardians, rulers, whatever) have no desire for a republic directed by unpurchased representatives. Did you really think they would permit the system to support a candidate who might oppose them?

  13. It will not "change." Not until we MAKE it change. With something much more tangible than words. Want it to change? Bring back tarring and feathering (for a start).

When government agents and politicians know (not suspect, not fear... KNOW) that they will be taken to task and not just in the media and not just in word... but in DEED... for what they do (and what they don't do)...

THEN, and only then, will you have "change."

The time for words is at an end. The teleprompter is out of order. What remains is whether or not we'll just change the channel looking for the latest "got talent" show... or will we as a people actually do something?

Sadly, I believe that our fate is the former.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow, Scarlett, very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. The most important thing that you said is "they". What we all really need to focus on is identifying who "they" are and holding them accountable for the state of our country. I don't believe that things would be any different under McCain. "They" clearly choose candidates for us to pick from...leading us to believe we have a choice, and giving us hope that we can vote in someone who will actually put us first. While we're all busy bitching about Bush or Obama "they" are continuing on their path of destruction. I agree with you 100% that "they" will soon move on to their next host. Most likely India and China...where the people are willing to work for .10 cents a day and won't start to demand a little something for themselves for quite some time. To them, the American worker is just another expense that's been eating into their profits.

  15. Everyone here knows Israel has fastened an iron grip around America's throat. There is only way out. Get rid of them, find a way, any way, but rid yourselves of those parasites. America today is WORSE than Weimar Germany in the years before Hitler's rise. You'll not rid yourselves by voting either. That won't work because they will rig the system.

  16. The real question that everyone should be asking themselves is do we really need a federal system of government? The states are able to handle their business and work with other states and countries so why do we need those expensive traitors in Washington? If you really think about it maybe you can come with a few reasons we really do not need them. So vote them out and no one in to replace them. All the states should leave the union. It is a failed experiment in a failed state.

  17. Delusional, delusional, delusional... about change.

The only change anyone really can count on is change from within.

Get over the widespread myth that shapes your outlook on reality. Too many believe that government, even global government, is either desirable or humanly endurable. That Global Government myth arose a few hundred years ago with the Enlightenment. Before that, its source is the Catholic Church.

    YOU should KNOW BETTER!

Politics is a cesspool of megelomaniacal would-be supermen, all who seem to be named Caligula. (You would remember the type of personality I'm talking about from your past, when you were ten or eleven years old and some kids put on their growth spurt before others!)

You want change? Stop voting. Stop consuming. Stop paying for any and all debt. And start demeaning and ridiculing -and start pounding on anyone who goes into debt.

These debtors are ruining it for everyone!

The credit economy is far and away worse than plantation slavery ever thought of being.

It is the credit economy that is keeping all these regimes afloat, necessitating and supporting all the murdering militarists so many humanitarians despise.

Not that there's anything wrong with that! It just seems a bit archaic.

    Smarten up people.

Barack Obama is already far worse than George W. Bush, -for George W. Bush is the man who taught Barack Obama most of what he knows about the job!

  18. Well, I listened to the whole speech.

We're doomed to three more years of another moron offering a chicken in every pot, a college degree for every kid, and enough scientific breakthrough to prolong everyone's life from now until doomsday, which likely isn't that far off at the rate these idiots want to push the envelope.

    What is the rush?

I would have been impressed if Obama actually grasped the obvious, -that civilization, intelligence, progress, genius and the social psyche are all grandiose frauds perpetrated by swindlers and thieves.

On a good day, when we're paying close enough attention, as human beings uttering -our blather- we a lucky to chirp as cogently as the birds or bark and astutely as any Hound Dog.

Life is a party, kids. All this stuff about endless progress and personal achievement is bullshit.

Brush your teeth. Watch your health. You only get one chance at life!

And just don't screw it up for the future -is all I ask. -Because the party that is life is the best deal going anywhere in this universe.

  19. Just saw on Huff Post that the "masters of the universe" Goldman Sachs received an 8 billion dollar subsidy courtesy of the US Taxpayer and that's for starters. These wall street robber barons have no shame and cannot restrain their arrogance and glee as they sack the country while Rome burns. If this isn't a "let them eat cake" moment I don't know what is. Obama is an elite paymaster and Congress is a den of whores. Now I know while Bushco hated the French. They had the balls to rid their country of parasitic oligarchs. We can learn a lot from them. Onward to the Bastille!

  20. Don't call that asshole MY president. I don't have any use for a president or for ANY of the criminal refuse in DC, and I would never participate in this fraud they call federal elections. And since the CONstitution isn't legally binding on anybody, the so-called federal government has neither legitimacy nor legal authority, period.

It's way past time that the tens of millions of idiots in this country wake the hell up.
