I came across an article (this post shares title) referring to a recent attempt by the TSA to force bloggers to reveal their source. The article criticizes one blogger for handing over his laptop. Where do you stand on the issue? You may wish to read this excellent article here. From the article:
" Anyone working with Frischling now knows that he’ll respect your confidentiality, just so long as it’s not inconvenient to his liberty. And that’s not respect at all. He let all bloggers down the other day when he willingly handed over his computer to the government. It was his duty to stand up to those agents, and even spend time in jail. Perhaps if he fought the whole situation in court it would lead to stronger laws protecting all bloggers. But Frischling didn’t do that, and the tyranny of our government went unchecked once more.
If I’m ever in the same situation as Steven Frischling I hope I have the courage to do what’s right. Not just what’s right for me right then."

" As the government reviews how an alleged terrorist was able to bring a bomb onto a U.S.-bound plane and try to blow it up on Christmas Day, the Transportation Security Administration is going after bloggers who wrote about a directive to increase security after the incident.
TSA special agents served subpoenas to travel bloggers Steve Frischling and Chris Elliott, demanding that they reveal who leaked the security directive to them. The government says the directive was not supposed to be disclosed to the public."

So - the TSA won't hesitate to insist that journalists reveal their sources - trampling on our freedom of the press - excused once again, and exactly like past dictatorships, because we are amidst yet another panic attack in an endless train of "emergencies" requiring forfeiture of our inalienable rights (an oxymoron) in exchange for "safety." Wait - didn't a famous patriot warn us... Enter the illustrious UNDERWEAR BOMBER! Click on the caps in the last sentence for a picture of the firecracker we are supposed to believe is more dangerous than tyranny! What a load of crap!
But did the losers at the crazed TSA fire anybody for letting a guy on an airplane carrying, no, not a passport, but a small explosive device? Did any heads roll for their gross incompetence? As far as I know, the answer to that question is NO.
Perhaps this snippet from cbs is revealing regarding the actions vs. words problem we have with our trusted Federal "protectors" :
" Brennan didn't say whether anyone is in line to be fired because of the oversights. He stood by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, although he acknowledged she has "taken some hits" for saying that the airline security system had worked. It didn't, and she clarified her remarks to show she meant that the system worked only after the attack was foiled, Brennan said."
So in other words, what they are really telling us is that the TSA, despite FAILURE, is doing a fine job. Just take all your clothes off, bend over and shut the hell up - we're from the government and we're here to help. Help what? We're here to let people onto airplanes with explosive devices while applying match to Bill of Rights. After all it's just a f*&^ing sheet of paper with faded ink! Now go back to sleep, back to work, pay your taxes and relax because it is unpatriotic to ask why we, the TSA, are the most expensive F-ups in the universe.
I'd call this laughable if it weren't such an obvious slap in the face of shoe-less and bottled-water deficient, bladder-ready-to-burst airline passengers whose liberty is being systematically stolen. These "public servants" have been given carte blanche to "protect" us - they've even been given the power to trample on our Bill of Rights- and what do we get in return? FAILURE WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY!
You've heard the slogan "Freedom is Not Free" - do you "walk the walk" or just "talk the talk?" Listen to some quotes below from those who provided our mechanism of government. Those who risked it all to establish the anti-tyrannical-check-and-balance system being dismantled before our very eyes. A Republic - a government of the people, by the people, and for the people - whose primary purpose is the protection of our rights. And this same government is insisting on the surrender of those very rights they are sworn to protect! Does the word "disconnect" come to mind? Does the the word "bullsh#t" come to mind? Does the word "tyranny" come to mind? Does "all of the above" come to mind?
So, my fellow citizen, will you just sit there and take it - living in synthetic pre-packaged fear?
