Note: This article hits home since I live in Virginia where they just killed somebody on death row. Meanwhile - here in Charlottesville, VA - if you are white and rich and stab someone 18 times all you get is involuntary manslaughter. I wonder what would happen if you were poor and black? The death penalty is an anachronism that doesn't work - the writer spells it out nicely. I've heard that the victim's families feel remorse, much to their own surprise, after the person that killed their loved one is executed by the state - when that happens. Then we have the cases where the wrong person is put to death - and there is no way to fix that of course.
